Barry Cushway, Consultancy Director:
Barry Cushway has over ten years' consultancy experience, including three years with PwC and six years with Hay and MSL. He has worked for over 100 public and private sector organisations on a range of projects including reviews of organisation, structure and processes, job evaluation, pay and performance management.
Before entering consultancy Barry had almost 20 years' experience in all aspects of human resource management, including employee relations, recruitment and selection. He held senior personnel posts in Thames Water for ten years, including responsibility for training and development throughout the organisation and as Personnel Manager for all HQ staff, and managed a number of re-structuring, relocation and efficiency projects.
He has detailed knowledge of employment law, and is author of several books including 'Essential Facts-Employment', published by Croner and 'The Employer's Handbook' published by Kogan Page. He has also contributed to numerous other publications and reports.
Barry is the part-time HR Adviser to the Institute of Directors, a former ACAS independent job evaluation expert and a member of a local authority remuneration panel. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has an MA in Management Studies (now MBA).
Celia Barker, Associate:
Celia Barker is a specialist human resources consultant and her main work themes are roles, recognition and rewards – making them work for the organisation, the team and the individual. Celia works both as a facilitator, enabling teams or individuals to achieve results, and as an ‘expert’ consultant advising on solutions that will support organisational goals.Celia has a successful track record in human resource and consultancy roles. She has held senior HR roles within the service sector covering UK and European areas. She was a Managing Consultant with the Hay Group for six years and continued working on an associate basis with them after setting up her independent business in the mid 1990s. Her work has spanned many business sectors including retail, financial services, charities, education and professional services. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD
Gareth Bennett-Coles, Associate:
A lawyer by training, Gareth has more than thirty years business experience. Some fifteen years of this was spent at senior personnel and line management level within ICL where among other posts, he headed up the recruitment function within Group Personnel.
Gareth's consultancy career began in 1982 when he established the Hay Group's Career Counselling Unit, specialising in all aspects of career transition on both an individual and a group basis. He also conducted assignments on competency and skills analysis for such organisations as the South East Thames Regional Health Authority.
In 1992, Gareth joined the MSL Group to develop the HR Consulting Unit. He also developed an Assessment and Development Centre for the Arts and Library Division of Kent County Council.
Since leaving MSL, Gareth has continued to specialise in the provision of HR services such as training and coaching, interviewing and recruitment, assessment and development and all aspects of career transition. Gareth is also a past Chair of the Recruitment Society as well as a member of the British Association of Counselling.

John Woodger, Associate:
John has over a decade of management consulting experience with domestic and international companies offering a unique blend of organisational development and executive search.
Having studied Fine Arts his initial career was in packaging design for a major UK printing company.
He worked for 20 years for H J Heinz, the US food firm, in sales and marketing and held most of the normal line management roles within this division. For the last two years of his time with Heinz he was Head of Personnel with responsibility for management succession, training, recruitment and was involved in the quality drive and restructuring initiatives - including relocation of the major Head Office functions.
Moving into consultancy in 1984 with the Hay Group, he was a Hay Partner and International Marketing Director for MSL (the Executive Search and Selection division of Hay) and ran the London practice. He worked alongside numerous major UK, European and US companies resourcing senior executives in all of the commercial functions.
He was Executive Vice President, International Operations for Right Associates, the world's leading career transition company for four years. In this role he had total P&L accountability for the non-North American operation in over 40 city locations covering Australasia, Pacific Rim, South Africa and mainland continental Europe, based in London. In 1995 he returned to Executive Search and started his own Executive Resourcing practice in 1997.
John is the author of 'Beyond Redundancy - a Review of Current UK Severance Practices'.
