For the past two years or so the Imperial War Museum has been implementing a major change programme which has resulted in some redundancies and also in a need for career development advice for certain staff. We have assisted in making this transition as smooth as possible by providing individual advice to staff through a series of meetings tailored to the specific requirements of each person. The advice provided has included identifying career and lifestyle objectives, identifying skills, strengths and experience, preparing CV’s, conducting job searches, social media and online applications, interview skills including handling difficult questions, options other than employment and any other topics relevant to the person concerned.
For the past 17 years we have provided an HR Advisory Service to members of the Institute of Directors. This has included a significant amount of advice in relation to career development and job searches and running courses on these topics for directors seeking new career paths. See comments below.
